How Sofy uses 24 ads to point at the quick-commerce shelf and lets creators do the reaching
Sofy has 24 live ads on Meta in India. Stayfree has 471 and Nua has 210. Of the 20 Sofy ads we read, 12 link straight to Blinkit or Zepto. The reach comes from somewhere else: 178 organic posts in a year, and creator reels, one of which has been watched 49.5 million times.

Live ads in the Meta Ad Library, India, 30 September 2026
Meta's own count of live ads. It counts ads, not money. We read 20 of Sofy's 24 and the first 150 of each rival's.
Category introduction
India's sanitary napkin market was worth about USD 894 million in 2025, according to IMARC. Whisper (Procter & Gamble) and Stayfree lead through distribution: they reach most of the country's shops and pharmacies. Unicharm's Sofy is one of the other named players.
New brands cannot beat that reach, so they compete in two ways. Nua, a direct-to-consumer brand, argues from skin comfort and sells online with discounts. The big names run film-star campaigns and add features, such as Stayfree's new “pad change alert”. Quick-commerce apps like Blinkit and Zepto now sit between the two, because a pad can reach a customer in minutes.
Brand introduction
Sofy is the Indian brand of Japan's Unicharm. It has run in India for over a decade and has used film stars such as Anushka Sharma and Sara Ali Khan. Its Instagram account, @sofyclubindia, has about 79,000 followers. The range now centres on AntiBacteria pads and a period-panty launch, tagged “your new period green flag”. We have no sales or revenue figure for Sofy India.
Summary
Sofy does not use paid ads to build awareness. It uses them to close the sale where the shopper already is. Awareness comes from content the brand posts itself and from creators. The paid library then sends people to the app they use to order.
The creator content matters more than the ad count suggests. One reel in our sample, a skit about a boyfriend who arrives with period supplies, has 49.5 million views. The brand has posted it on its own account and, in the Ad Library, runs it as an ad that links to Blinkit.
Problem statement and objective
This is our reading of the ads, not a brief Sofy has published. The problem looks like this. Sofy has far less shelf space than Whisper and Stayfree, and a smaller ad library than both. It cannot out-shout them. It can make a product feel current to younger buyers and make it easy to buy within minutes.
The objective that follows: get the AntiBacteria range and the period-panty launch talked about by young women, then land the order on a quick-commerce shelf.
Execution: what the ads actually do
We read 20 of Sofy's 24 live ads on 30 September 2026 and decoded 31 creatives. With so few, we report counts, not percentages.
Where the click lands
| Link destination | Ads, of 20 |
|---|---|
| Blinkit | 9 |
| Zepto (via app-store link) | 3 |
| Sofy's Instagram profile | 4 |
| No link | 4 |

The Blinkit ads show a product pack, a price and a 20% offer. The Instagram ads are the launch teasers, with the idea that you follow the account to see more.
A launch, not a catalogue
17 of the 20 ads started in September 2026, 2 in August and 1 in July. Live ads skew recent because older ones get switched off, so this is a snapshot of what is running now. What is running is a launch: “Your New Period Green Flag”, a “Coming soon” teaser, and three friends in pyjamas under a “comfy girls club” banner. The tone is playful and aimed at younger women.
The claim is the product
Of 31 creatives, 23 open with a bold claim and 25 are a straight pitch. The words repeat: AntiBacteria, hygienic, dry, long-lasting. 10 creatives carry a discount and 9 ask the viewer to buy now. 13 show no person on screen.
Creators get the reach, the brand gets the clip
We counted 39 creator posts with view counts, totalling 71.3 million views. The top post alone has 49.5 million, which is 69% of all of them. The brand's own best post of the year was a post about the Splitsvilla finale, with about 106,000 likes. Sofy's 178 organic posts across twelve months came to about 876,000 likes in total.
The comments are friendly but quiet
We classified 2,795 public comments across 131 posts. 93% carry no product signal at all, 3.7% speak well of the product and 1.5% ask to buy. The audience is amused, not shopping. That fits an ad library that handles the buying step itself.
We are excited to have Sara Ali Khan as the face of our brand, empowering young girls to relentlessly pursue their dreams.

What the competition is doing
Stayfree and Nua each run libraries many times the size of Sofy's, and argue from different places.
| Sofy | Stayfree India | Nua | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live ads | 24 | 471 | 210 |
| Ads read / creatives | 20 / 31 | 150 / 59 | 150 / 294 |
| Hook is a fear or pain point | 15 of 31 | 47 of 59 | 135 of 294 |
| Pitch builds a problem, then a fix | 4 of 31 | 40 of 59 | 137 of 294 |
| Discount in the ad | 10 of 31 | 4 of 59 | 175 of 294 |
| Organic posts, window read | 178 | 52 | 200 |
Source: Meta Ad Library and Instagram, read 30 September 2026. Organic windows: Sofy and Stayfree about twelve months, Nua January to September 2026.
Stayfree: the problem, then the product
Stayfree has the most ads and the most polished ones: all 59 decoded creatives are studio work. 40 of 59 build a problem and then solve it, and 47 start from a fear or a pain point. Its recent campaigns pair the brand with film star Kiara Advani and a new “pad change alert” feature. Its organic output is small: 52 posts, 50 of them reels.
Nua: the discount is the argument
Nua, a Mumbai-based brand that Inc42 lists at ₹96.1 crore revenue for FY25, competes on offers. 175 of its 294 decoded creatives carry a discount and 173 ask for the purchase. Half show no person. It posted 200 times on Instagram in the window we read. Where Sofy points at Blinkit, Nua points at its own site.
What other brands can take from this
- A small paid library can still work if the destination is right. Sofy's links go to where people already order.
- Run what creators already made. The Blinkit ad uses the same skit that drew 49.5 million views.
- Launch with one idea. “Green Flag” shows up in the teaser, the launch video and the hashtag.
- Expect one reel to carry the year. 69% of creator views came from one post.
- Do not read quiet comments as failure. 93% of Sofy's comments carry no product signal, as is normal for a category people do not talk about at length.
Method, and what this does not show
Everything here comes from public sources. We did not work with Sofy, Stayfree or Nua, and the reasons we give for their choices are our reading, not theirs.
- Ads: Meta Ad Library, India, read 30 September 2026. 20 of Sofy's 24 live ads, giving 31 creatives. Rivals: the first 150 ads each, giving 59 (Stayfree) and 294 (Nua) creatives. Where a base is under 100 we show counts.
- Live totals (24, 471, 210) are Meta's count and count ads, never spend. A small library does not mean a small budget.
- Link destinations are the addresses on the ads we read. Zepto is inferred from an app-store link.
- Organic and creator data are public Instagram posts. 39 creator posts have view counts. We do not know what Sofy paid any creator.
- Comments: 2,795 classified comments, read as qualitative colour.
- No spend, sales or conversion figure appears on this page. None can be seen from outside an ad account.
