How DaMENSCH leads with a body-shaping fix instead of a price

DaMENSCH had 302 live ads on Meta in India. We read 250 of them. 101 send the click to a shapewear, padded-vest or compression page. The headline is a promise about how a man looks, such as “Drop 2 inches in 5 seconds”, not a discount. Its biggest rival leads with a price. DaMENSCH leads with a problem.

Meta's own count of live ads. It counts ads, not money. We read 250 of DaMENSCH's 302 and sampled XYXX (402 creatives); all of Bummer's were read (40 creatives).

Category introduction

Men's innerwear in India is large and has had one owner for decades. Research firm IMARC puts the market at about USD 10.9 billion in 2025. The incumbent is Jockey, run in India by Page Industries, which reported revenue of ₹5,247 crore for FY26. It wins on reach: more than 100,000 retail doors.

Newer online brands cannot match that shelf, so they compete in the Meta feed. Most of them sell the same thing, softer fabric at a higher price, and they separate themselves by what they say first. XYXX says price. Bummer says humour. The open question in the category is what else a man will buy from an innerwear brand, and that is where DaMENSCH is playing.

Brand introduction

DaMENSCH was founded in 2018 by Anurag Saboo and Gaurav Pushkar. It sells innerwear, shirts, polos, loungewear, towels and an athleisure range. Entrepreneur India reported FY25 revenue of ₹118 crore (Inc42 shows ₹120.8 crore) and a fresh ₹17.4 crore raise in September 2026 at an unchanged ₹600 crore valuation. By October 2023 it had opened 25 stores of its own in twelve months. On Instagram it has about 128,000 followers.

In August 2025 it launched FORM, which it describes as India's first premium shapewear line for men: vests and half-sleeve tees. Most of what follows is about that launch.

Summary

DaMENSCH advertises a result a man can see in the mirror, and lets the wide range sit behind it. Shapewear is a newer idea in Indian menswear. Nobody searches for it with a price in mind, so the ad has to explain it. That is why the copy leads with a claim: drop two inches, add chest size, hide the tummy. Price comes later.

The second half is who talks. DaMENSCH ads mostly show a man on camera, and creators carry the explaining. Together they turn a product people were not looking for into a topic.

Problem statement and objective

This is our reading of the ads, not a brief DaMENSCH has published. The problem looks like this. In a category where rivals compete on price, a brand with a wide range and heavy spend needs a reason for a man to pick it that a cheaper pack cannot copy. A new product that fixes a visible worry is one.

The objective that follows: make shapewear feel normal, get the first purchase on a high-value item, and then sell shirts, polos and boxers to the same man.

Execution: what the ads actually do

We read 250 of DaMENSCH's 302 live ads on 9 September 2026 and decoded 385 creatives from them (an ad can carry several). This is most of the library, not all of it. We asked the same questions of each creative: what the hook is, what argument it makes, who is on screen, and what it asks the viewer to do.

The landing pages tell the story

We sorted the 250 ads by the address they link to. This is our reading of the web address, not a measured field.

The hook is a claim

223 of 385 creatives (58%) open with a bold claim, against 17% that show the product plainly. 45% appeal to who the man wants to be. Titles read like promises: “Built for the Indian lean body type” ran as 12 ads, and “No Bulk. Just Shape” as 8. 69% of creatives are a straight pitch with no story around it.

Price is a side note

Only 32 creatives (8%) carry a bundle offer and 2 a discount. 357 (93%) carry no ask on screen. The “Starting at just 899” box-set ads exist, but they are a minority.

A man on camera, shot like a studio

Lifestyle-style presenters appear in 217 creatives (56%) and everyday users in 45 (12%). 290 show a man (75%), mostly aged 25 to 34. 296 creatives (77%) are studio work and 30 (8%) read as phone footage. So DaMENSCH ads look produced, even when a person is talking.

Creators extend it, and the comments show demand

We found 122 Instagram posts about the brand from 99 creators between March and September 2026. The top three posts hold about 25.0 million of the 71.6 million views counted across 102 reels. One creator transcript runs the comment-for-link mechanic: “Comment chest and I will send you the link.” (our translation from Hindi). Of 13,541 comments we classified, 40.5% asked for a price, link or code. That figure is inflated by posts built to collect such comments.

Of the 250 live ads, 115 started in July 2026 and 78 in August. Live ads skew recent because old ones get switched off, so this shows what is running now, not how often the brand launches.

With FORM, we are not just launching a new product; we are starting a new conversation around body confidence and functional wear for men.

What the competition is doing

The two rivals in this run sell a similar product with a different first sentence. XYXX numbers are creatives decoded in this run, not the later sample in our XYXX case study.

XYXX: the price is the pitch

XYXX ad: break free from boring undies, buy 5 at ₹999

XYXX is about seven times DaMENSCH's live library. More than half its creatives carry a bundle offer, a quarter ask for the sale outright, and over half show no person at all. Its FY25 revenue was ₹191.8 crore. We cover its ₹999 five-pack plan in a separate case study. The contrast is clean: XYXX tells you what you save, DaMENSCH tells you what you will look like.

Bummer: a joke instead of a claim

Bummer ad: stay comfortably bold

Bummer ran only 23 live ads. Its pitch is tone: “stay comfortably bold”, a dry-fast swim short, a cartoon of a man asleep in a rainy room. 35 of 40 creatives are studio-made and only 2 make an offer. The brand plays on personality because it has no room to play on volume.

Rival organic content

In the window we read, XYXX published 10 organic posts, all reels, including an episodic comedy series. Bummer published 8. This is a small sample of what each posts, so we draw no conclusion about volume.

What other brands can take from this

  • Lead with the problem, not the price. It works when the product is new and nobody is searching for it.
  • Make a claim a customer can check. “Drop 2 inches in 5 seconds” can be tested in a changing room. A vague promise cannot.
  • Put a man on screen and let creators explain. A new category needs a person who looks like the buyer saying it is normal.
  • Use comments as a funnel. The comment-for-link ask collects interested names before a sale.
  • Know when you cannot win on price. A rival with seven times the volume and a lower per-piece price will win that fight. Pick a different one.

Method, and what this does not show

Everything here comes from public sources. We did not work with DaMENSCH, XYXX or Bummer, and the reasons we give for their choices are our reading, not theirs.

  • Ads: Meta Ad Library, India, read 9 September 2026. 250 of DaMENSCH's 302 live ads (a sample), which gave 385 creatives. Percentages are shares of those 385. XYXX is 402 sampled creatives; Bummer is 40, so its figures are counts.
  • Live totals (302, 2,247, 23) are Meta's own count on 9 September and count ads, never spend.
  • The landing-page table groups ads by words in the link address. It is our sort, not a field the library supplies.
  • Creator posts: Instagram posts, 13 March to 2 September 2026, that mention the brand. Views exist for 102 of 122 posts. Comment intent covers 13,541 classified comments and is qualitative colour.
  • Revenue differs by source (₹118 crore vs ₹120.8 crore). We show both.
  • No spend, sales or conversion figure appears on this page. None can be seen from outside an ad account.
